Q: Do I need to wear a riding hat, and do you provide them?

A: All riders under 18 must wear a riding hat that meets current safety standards while on the yard. A correctly fitting, standard-approved riding hat must be worn at all times when riding. We do provide riding hats at the centre, but if you bring your own,it must meet the required safety standards and fit properly.

Q: What should I wear?

A:

  • Gloves – Recommended for both handling and riding, as they provide a better grip, help prevent injuries from reins or lead ropes, and keep hands warm in winter.
  • Long sleeves – Advised to protect arms from scrapes, sunburn, and keeps you warm in cold weather.
  • Weather-appropriate clothing – Waterproof, warm clothing is recommended in bad weather to keep you or your child comfortable.
  • Trousers only – No shorts; long trousers must be worn.
  • No loose or flapping clothing – This can catch on objects or startle the horses and ponies.

Q: What footwear is best?

A: Correct footwear is essential. Proper riding boots with a small heel are recommended to prevent your foot from slipping through the stirrup. No flip-flops, sandals, or trainers.

Q: Do you have a cancellation policy?

A: All lessons must be pre-booked and paid for at the time of booking. We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations; otherwise, full payment will be charged. If we need to cancel your lesson for any reason, we will notify you as soon as possible, and your payment will be carried over to your next lesson.

Q: What happens in bad weather?

A: We will always try to ensure lessons go ahead, but if the weather is unsuitable for riding, we will offer stable management lessons instead. If we do need to cancel, we will contact you, and your lesson will be rescheduled for the following week.

Q: Do you have a car park?

A: Yes, we have a spacious parking area directly in front of the building, just off the road. Please enter the car park slowly and be mindful of pedestrians and horses when arriving and leaving.

Q: What should I do when I arrive?

A: Please report to reception. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your lesson to ensure lessons run on time and you receive your full allocated session.

Q: Do you have a minimum or maximum age for riders?

A: The minimum age for riders is 3 years old, and there is no upper age limit.

Q: Do you provide lessons for children with special needs?

A: Our instructors have extensive experience working with children with a range of needs, and we do our best to accommodate everyone. Please give us a call to discuss any additional requirements, and we will be happy to help.
